Privacy Policy

Last updated: 28 October 2026

This policy explains what information PathStory collects, why we collect it, and the choices you have. By using PathStory you agree to the practices described here.

Information we collect

Account details. When you sign up we store your name and email address, which are used to identify you in the app and to send service emails such as verification and password resets.

Journey data. The routes you import, record or sketch — including location points, elevation, timing, distance and any titles, notes, companion names or captions you add. Journey data is visible only to you unless you choose to share it (see Sharing below).

Photos. Photos you attach to a journey, stored with your permission and shown only within your journeys and any replays you share.

Payment details. Subscriptions are processed by Paystack. We never see or store your card details — Paystack handles the transaction and tells us only whether your PathStory Plus subscription is active, the buyer email it is attached to, and when the paid period ends.

Usage information. Basic, anonymous analytics about how the app is used, and standard technical logs required to keep the service running and diagnose problems.

How we use your information

We use your data to provide PathStory: saving and replaying your journeys, syncing your photos and stats, processing subscriptions, sending service emails, keeping your account secure, and understanding how the app is used so we can improve it. We do not sell your personal information.

Sharing your journeys

Your journeys are private by default. If you turn on a share link, anyone with the link can watch that journey's replay — including its route, stats and any photos attached to it — without needing an account. You can switch sharing off at any time.

Cookies and advertising

We use essential cookies to keep you signed in. Free accounts may see ads, which can involve third-party advertising partners setting their own cookies to show relevant ads. PathStory Plus removes ads entirely.

Third-party services

PathStory relies on trusted services: Paystack for payments, Google for sign-in (if you use it), Esri and its partners for the satellite map imagery, and email delivery providers for service emails. Each processes data only as needed to provide its part of the service under its own privacy terms.

Your choices

You can review, edit or delete any journey, remove photos, and switch share links off at any time. To delete your account and everything in it, contact us via the Contact page and we will remove your data. Where required by law, you may also request a copy of your data or ask us to correct it.

Children

PathStory is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes and contact

If we change this policy we will update the date above. Questions about privacy? Use the Contact page and we will respond as soon as we can.
